The brothers Lionheart is a book by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. You may know her from Pippi Longstocking. The book tells the story of brothers Jonatan and Karl. They want to fight the evil Tengil who rules with the help of a dragon. The themes of this book are deep and dark, but there are lighter themes as well, themes of loyalty, hope and courage. As I do not have children myself I can not judge to how old kids the book would suit so I recommend a parent to read it first. And besides, it is a very enjoyable read to adults as well! I read this book only as an adult, but I have always known of this book even if I never had it myself as child. There was sadness in the book but also so much more.

Okay, so you had me at "Pippi Longstocking"! I loved that book and so this one will definitely go on my TBR list! Also, I'm a sucker for books with dragons.

Sounds like a great book, and I'll have to check it out to see if/when I should give it to my kids :-) I'm trying to make them into fantasy buffs!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm super-late this week, but thanks for participating in Throwback Thursday!
I hope they´ll appreciate it! :)
